The Problem: Combating catheter associated urinary tract infections
The fourth largest cause of death in the western world is hospital and care acquired infections, most often caused by urinary catheters. Hospital acquired catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI) are growing rapidly as resistant bacteria are spreading. Therefore, there is a strong demand for infection resistant urinary catheters.
The Solution: Bacticon’s HyperMatrix technology
Bacticon is developing an infection resistant urinary catheter solution. It is an add-on catheter solution. Instead of coating catheters, Bacticon will impregnate existing standard urinary catheters.
This results in a self-regenerating and sustaining antibacterial surface that can function in
- a controlled manner, and
- for a longer period of time (more than 4 weeks).
Bacticon’s objective is to control bacterial infections in humans caused by urinary catheters.
